Abraham Lincoln Cochran was born in Union Furnace Ohio. He was a brick maker at the furnace in Union Furnace. The men called him Tutor as he taught them how to make bricks. He belonged to the Knights of Pythias in Logan Ohio. He was a jeweler as a hobby. He and Jessie, his wife, gave Joseph D. COCHRAN a cluster stick pin of diamonds for his 21st birthday. Years later, Joseph gave a black onyx surrounded by 6 of those diamonds to his daughter, Joanne E. COCHRAN (Abraham's grand daughter) when she graduated from High School (1954). The seventh diamond was put onto a ring for Jerry J. GRINSTEAD, Abraham's great grandson, when he graduated from High School (1975). Abraham became ill about 2 years after his wife died, and he came to Columbus. He had tuberculosis and had to reside at the TB Sanitarium there. He was about 6' tall with dark hair and blue eyes. He played the accordian and sang. (As told and remembered by Joanne E. Cochran)
