How to read the Ahnentafel Chart below:

Look at the Tafel # for any person. For example, I am Tafel #1.
If you double this number (1 times 2 = 2) you get my father's Tafel, # 2.
If you double my number and add 1 (1 times 2 + 1 = 3) you get my 
mother's number.

By knowing the relationship you can assign numbers, or more importantly,
if you know the Tafel #s, you can find out relationships in the chart below.

Example:
Tafel # 14 is James A. MURNANE.

2 times 14 = 28...so...Tafel # 28, or Thomas MURNANE, is his father, and...

2 times 14 + 1 = 29...so...Tafel # 29, or Bridgett KIRBY, is his mother.
