HISTORY Lee Hugh Warner Following paragraphs by Brian Warner:
Evidently, was raised by his grandparents. Commonly known as Lee Hugh Warner. · Hugh to close family/friends. MOVES AND PLACES LIVED According to Lee and Edith's record of marriage, his name is given as "Levi H."· At time of marriage, were both living in Napolean, MI. From the birth of their children, looked like moved from Iowa to Washington· between 1898 and 1902. In 1911, probably lived in Seattle. In Roxa L. Warner's (#220) probate file of Apr 1921, Hugh Warner, her nephew,· residence unknown, is listed. However, letter from Charles S. Warner,· 10-31-1921, lived Eagle Rock, CA. In this letter, Charles refers to him as· "Lee H." There is no Eagle Rock mentioned in current CA atlas. There is an· Eagle Mountain in Riverside county near Joshua Tree Nat'l Forest. Died at the State Hospital in Steilacoom with a broken hip. Given name may· have been Lee Hugh or Levi Hugh. Nickname was Foxy. Evidently, was a crafty· guy. Also, was a womanizer. Was in the Mason's in Bassett, Iowa from 19 Dec· 1882 - 28 Feb 1894. Initiated - 19 Dec 1882. Evidently was a mason in· Marshall, Minn. Was a hard person to get along with. Was big & tall. At one point, Foxy lived· on lower Queen Anne Hill, not far from the Chief Seattle statue. Had a second· hand store in Seattle on First or Third Ave & possibly in LA. Was also into· Homeopathic medicine. The story goes that he really enjoyed his butter, eggs, & ham. If he had lived· to see the U.S. enter WWII, he would have been madder than hell because of the· rationing. Told Edith Vera that was related to the Schilling's (Coffee). He met them in· LA. After Edith ran off with Sam Homer, Foxy told the kids that she had died. Six· years or so later, she returned for a visit. Foxy did not care much for Oregon. For a time lived in San Diego. According to Robert Warner, Foxy visited him in Hoquiam, WA in 1927. Did not· like the Jewish name of Levi, so went by Lee most of his life, or Hugh to his· family & close friends. In the census records when he was a boy, his name was· recorded as Levi Hugh. Lee's death certificate gives his mother as being "-- Fuller". However, all· other records point to this being his GRANDMOTHER, not his mother. Sent for Birth certificate from Chickasaw County, Iowa. They said did not· begin keeping birth records until 1880. According to History of Ancestral Descendants of James Cudworth of Scituate,· MA, p. 162, gives name as "Hugh". According to Vera (12 Oct 1991), had a sister that went blind. Vera was· concerned that she might also go blind. On 20 Oct 1991, Leila Marie Warner Brumbaugh related the she saw Lee Hugh in· the early 1920s. He helped her father change a tire by holding up the car. |
